Quinoa Oats Pidi Kozhukkattai

INGREDIENTS

Quinoa – 1 cup

Oats – 1 cup

Toor Dhal-1/4 cup                                                                      

Black pepper-2 tsp

Coconut gratings/powder  – 1/2 cup

Salt – ½ teaspoon or to taste

For  Tadka/ seasoning:

Oil – 2 teaspoons

Mustand – 1/2 teaspoon

Jeera-1/2 teaspoon

Urad dhal – 1 teaspoon

Curry Leaves – few

 

 

DIRECTIONS

·         Roast  the oats and quinoa separately and grind with toor dhal and black pepper to a course powder.

·         Heat oil in a pan – add the items under ‘tadka”’, let it splutter. Then add water and allow it to boil. Add required salt and coconut gratings.

·         When water comes to a boil, add roasted oats/quinoa mixture and keep stirring until it is cooked (about 3 to 5 minutes) and a sticky mixture comes together. Turn off the stove and allow it to cool for 5 mins. Once it is bearable  to touch,  grease your hands with oil and make kozhukattai shapes or simple balls

·         Grease idli plates with little oil and steam kozhukattais  for 5-10 mins.

·         Serve with thengai thogayal or vatha kuzhambu.
